The internet site of the Azerbaijan newspaper, Yeni (New) Azərbaycan, in its November 3, 2023, Azerbaijani language edition, reported that at the 10th Organization of Turkic States (TDT) summit of heads-of-state recently held in Astana, Kazakhstan, the President of Kazakhstan, Kasım-Jomart Tokayev, called for member states [Translator note: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan] to strengthen cooperation in the area of security.
In his keynote speech, Tokayev noted that “an unstable situation continues to exist in the world. The international situation remains unstable. It is very important to strengthen the Turkic peoples’ unity in the current restive situation. This is a reliable guarantee of our common security. Challenges are increasing that are related to the weapons and narcotics trade, terrorism, extremism, and migration. Cooperation in the area of security must be strengthened in order to prevent threats like these.” In line with this, he felt that the signing of an agreement on “the exchange of information between agencies jointly fighting crime and the Turkic States’ agencies for financial investigations is important.”

Tokayev suggested that the 3rd meeting of the secretary generals of the Security Council of the Organization of Turkic States be held in Astana in 2024.
In the November 14, 2023, Azerbaijani language edition of the Yeni Azərbaycan newspaper internet site, a short article, based on Azerbaijan Defense Ministry information, reported that discussions had been held between Azerbaijan and Pakistan on military cooperation, with the Azeri delegation being led by Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov. The Pakistani side had been represented by the chairman of the Pakistan Islamic Republic’s Aviation Complex, vice-marshal of Aviation, Nadim Akhtar Khan.
